Question /etc/resolv.conf and dhcp client


how can i make dhcpcd (on slackware) write the dns server addresses to a file of my choosing instead of the default /etc/resolv.conf???

I'm not sure this will work and be sure to make backups before you try! Delete the /etc/resolv.conf file and create a symlink to your file named /etc/resolv.conf But it'll probably save the rest as well which so it might not be what you want?

i actually have an existing /etc/resolv.conf that i need left alone, so i can't create that link...

this is my situation:
