Actually I am competely new to Linux so bear with me. I just installed Red Hat 7.3. Everything seems to work fine, except I am not connecting to the internet. The OS is has recognized the device, but not as a Cable Modem that connects to the internet.
I have looked for a Linux device driver for this particular cable modem, but I have not seen any.
Is it a better option for me to get a home networking card and connect that way, with the hope that the network card will be recognized?
It is a pain to get out of Linux and start Windows just so I can get on the internet to get my questions answered about Linux !
Dear deray, waste your time with USB no more....I recommend you immediately change your cable modem with a USB one to a ethernet one. Get a 3com ethernet card, most of them work fantastic with Linux and rock and roll!!
I've had past experience with USB cable modem and dsl modem...USB is way to new to just be plug and completely play in Linux...eventhough it's way better than what it was lets say 5 kernels ago...just play it easy and simple...besides using an ethernet card for internet is way better than using USB!
have fun!!
