DNS not responding plz reply

hi
i have configured DNS on local LAN and made a zone
nitin.com
now whenever i dig nitin.com
it says

;<<>>DIG 9.2.2-P3 <<>>nitin.com
;;global options : printcmd
;;connection timed out; noservers could be reached

plzzzzzzzz do help me
as i am not able to get any reply from this forum

Are you sure /etc/resolv.conf contains your DNS address?
Can you ping nitin.com?
Can you ping nitin.com_IP

ya it contained
let me tell u wat happened now
i installed fedora core 1 with all servers
the dns didnt work becoz i maually edited the files
now i remove the rpm "bind-chroot"
then it works
the problem is now solved
but dont know wat is the reason behind
can anyone help

You probably made a mistake when editing files. Hard to say without knowing them.
