Connecting Vector Linux to printer on Windows Vista

I have Vector Linux 6.0 Gold installed on what was formerly a Windows XP with 256MB RAM. It is connected to a router to which a fairly new Windows Vista is also connected (3GB RAM). What I generally want to know is how to set up a network so that the two computers can interact. Specifically, I want to be able to print from the Linux to the printer (HP Deskjet F380 All-in-One) that is connected to the Vista.

If any of you could help with this, I would greatly appreciate it. If you need any more information about the computers I will do my best to provide it.

You need to set up SMB on the Linux box, that will allow it to access the XP machine.

Any ideas what to do about the error message where it would list the shares? I apologize if I'm overlooking something obvious, but I don't have a clue what to do.

Depends on what you put in your smb.conf file. There are differences with Vista regarding shares. Can't recall exactly, don't use Windows ..
