Unhappy Connecting Problems to Internet

I did install Mandrake 10.0 official not long ago.

the problem i got, is that i can't connect to Internet.

I'm using ZyXEL Prestige 645MP to connect to Internet throw XP.

I got ADSL and when i connect to Internet i have to login to the Internet company's page. The company's server also provide me with a IP-address (change from time to time).

When i check the Modem, i saw that it didn't support DHCP-funktion. Does this make that i can't connect to Internet by my modem?

Is this a DSL modem? Was it not provided by the ISP? I've never heard of a modem not accepting DHCP assignment.

Hi FireInTheDark,
I did some google for your modem brand. The majority of references with the exact model are for pages of your country and Finland. However, visiting ZyXEL, I discovered there are 2 types of 645 series modem: one is the pppoe (ppp over ethernet) and the other is pppoa (ppp over atm). I would suggest you visit this link and download the manuals, if you don't have them, to identify your modem. Once you identify it, you have to install "rp-pppoe" if your modem is pppoe. I don't know the package name of the software you need if your modem is pppoa because, in my side of the planet, I never saw one of it. But, a careful reading of the documents and some google will help you put your linux on line.
Good luck!
