Configure samba server


Hi,

My intension is to install samba server if my machine is not having it and want to configure it. Systems around me are Windows. So I want file browsing between them and me . So is it easy to configure it? If so please tell me or if it is dificult to tell all the steps, please point me to a document where I can find help in my configuration

Please help me as I am a newbie. Waiting for your reply.

Perse, it's really easy nowadays. There's a GUI to configure Samba (called "SWAT", available on Samba's homepage) or you can do it a less tricky way...
I use the pico file editor and edit my smb.conf, once I'm in there, I change the necessary commands (and whatever I may want to edit add or delete), then save the file. Once you have edited smb.conf, I would type in "testparm" in the console to make sure the changes I made checkout with Samba itself. testparm is a tool used to see if your smb.conf is in a decent working condition. If it checks out with no problem, restart Samba.
After that, your window(s) computers should be able to see your linux machine under whatever workgroup you set your linux box as in your smb.conf & the hostname of your machine itself.

OH, if you're not familar with where your smb.conf may be, in modern day RH installs, it should be in "/etc/Samba/smb.conf" (by default)
