Red face Compaq ML 370 + SuSE 7.3 Prof

Hello,

I have a problem running SuSE Linux 7.3 Prof. on a Compaq Proliant ML 370.
There is no way to configure the network card to 100 mbit fullduplex, it is always configured as auto-config, so it will be automatically switched to 100mbit half-duplex.

How can I configure it to use 100mbit full-duplex? The driver is "e100" for an Intel 10/100 card.

Hope you can help me, answers please to: n.koch@hees-buerowelt.de

Thank you!

Greetings,
Nils

From a RH 7.1 point of view, trust me, you will want to dump the e100 that comes w/ linux. Install the e100 driver from Compaq (rmmod the old one and insmod the new one) and make sure you specifiy options e100 e100_speed_duplex=4 in the /etc/modules.conf file. Did that here and HUGE performance boost.

Hi,

but there is no COMPAQ driver for the e100 netcard for SuSE inux 7.3, only for SuSE 7.0 and RH 7.0/7.1 as RPM. I guess I can't install this driver on SuSE 7.3, do you?

Thank you for your answer!

Best Regards,
Nils Koch
