Citrix ICA

Would like to cut myself free of XP completely

The last task remaining is to set up Citrix ICA services on my home PC so that I can access my remote desktop on the corporate MS Exchange server.

IT over there tells me I will need to have IE6 running on my home system in order to see the Windows apps.

Any truth to this? Has anyone out there had any success getting this done?

Thanks

Welcome to LQ.

I have been running version 7 of the linux ICA client without any problems. Just download it and give it a go.

Thanks for the response- downloaded version 8 from the Citrix website, installed the package but no go- I reach the corporate site, am redirected to the secure access portal page but nothing loads into Mozilla.

What sort of application are you trying to run with citrix? Can you be a bit more specific?

You don't need to use mozilla at all. Just access the ica server from the citrix client.

Thank you for your help on this one.

When I connect to the webpage for my corporate "web portal"- I am prompted to logon. After a successful logon, web access to my desktop is enabled- I am trying to access MS Outlook as well as my MS Office files at work. A proprietary NT based application bis also accessible.

David, I thought that the ICA client was a "plug-in". How do I run it outside of a browser?

Thanks,
Paul

I'm not on my work laptop just now but I think it is something like this (I'm fairly sure it starts with "w"):
/path/to/installation/wfcmgr

Paul again what sort of application, is it something like sabre systems? You may have to create a switch and use Netscape 7.2 as your browser.

Thanks for your assist- spoke to my IT people about the software I would be trying to run- without getting into any details they simply insist that I would need to run IE with the citrix plug-in and that Mozilla will not work.

I'll probably try to do this through Wine- I'll let you know if I succeed
