You've been a member here for ELEVEN YEARS now...you should be well aware of the "Question Guidelines", indicating the need to provide details, and about doing your own research first. You don't tell us what version/distro of Linux, what kind of hardware, what your goals are, etc., and we cannot guess.
However, we can see a few things from the little you've provided:
You're using Virtualbox...you DO realize that the network adapters aren't 'real', don't you? That there are limitations on what you can and can't do with them?
Your NIC hardware isn't mentioned; could very well be that it doesn't physically support it, although it *APPEARS* to be an Intel E1000 driver. Are your drivers up to date???
Have you read the man pages on ethtool, about the differences between the -X and -x flags?
