Accounts with KDE/GNOME login issues (unable to read configs)

Hey there, I'm adminning a small network, and it's using LDAP for login authorization. I've added some new users, but when they try to log into a workstation both KDE and GNOME complain about not being able to read configuration files. The users' /home directory is mounted from an NFS fileserver.

KDE complains about not being able to read or write to rnh-applet / gnome complains about not being able to read a configuration file and locks up. I've checked the hidden files in the users' home directories -- it seems as if all of the permissions and ownerships are in order. Also, none of them are over quota, which had caused similar problems in the past.

I'm really miffed, help me please!!

Fixed!

I found out that all of the account problems were coming from the same workstation. The issue wasn't with their accounts; that specific machine couldn't mount the NFS home directory from the fileserver, so obviously no configuration files could be read!

The workstation's network wasn't completely down, because it could authenticate users from the ldap directory - I'm still wondering where the NFS mounting issues came from...
