A "late collision" every 2-3 seconds

With a Realtek 8029 (NE1000 based) 10Mbps I have a "late collision" every 2-3 seconds when browsing ADSL router web server, and there isn't any other computer connected in the network.
With Windows this doesn't happens but with ethereal I see that Linux is a lot faster sending packets, that rises the probability of a collision.
Since there are a lot of BIG stops at this browsing I would like to do something. There is something I can do to make Linux wait longer between packets?

Use mii-tool to figure out whether it's negotiated a 10Mbit/half or 10Mbit/full connection. If you're plugged into a hub or other repeater (rather than a device that does switching) it may be the case that your card was set to full-duplex (concurrent send/receive) but the device you're plugged into only supports half-duplex (cannot send while receiving, or vis versa).

Seems that the cards is too old for mii-tools, but the problem was with full-duplex, now everything works fine.

Thanks.
