Trying to Understand how Galaxy S3 software update

Hi,

I'm trying to understand which Samsung server my S3 device connect to for the OTA upgrade.

I tried to find the answer in Google but didn't get any information.

Reason for this question is I bought my phone in India and currently using in South Africa. I got the update of the 4.3 Jellybean. But my colleague who bought phone in SA still not getting the update.

So is there any difference in the server my phone is connecting to OTA upgrade and my Colleague phone.

Regards,
Srini

From what I remember, S3/S4 phone updates are governed by the carrier. Are you and your colleague using the same mobile carrier?

I'm assuming carrier here means the mobile network operator?? No it's different. I use CellC and My colleague uses Vodacom.

That means for the OTA upgrades my device connects to the Mobile Network Operator Server and then downloads from there.

What spam? I don't see a reason for reporting spam on this thread. Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see it.

There was a spam post here (not the thread itself).

It looks like the spam post has been removed by admins now. That leaves me standing here naked! Frightening thought!
