Most immediate instantaneous notifications on Android

I've been using GMail to receive notifications from a remote machine that runs Linux. I've been doing some tests and found that GMail takes about one minute to deliver the message to my Android phone. Sometimes it takes two minutes.

I want it to be faster.

Do you people know another way of sending notifications to my phone, lightning fast? I can run pretty much anything on the remote machine. Even Windows applications, but of course I'd rather not do that.

Thank you for any suggestions.

Hi,

you could use Pushover. I guess you'd be looking at the 5 USD onetime purchase option.
