i bought a retro handheld and want to put linux on it.

that's the device I bought this is the out put from lsusb:
Actions Semiconductor Co., Ltd D-Wave 2GB MP4 Player / AK1025 MP3/MP4 Player
i kinda figured I would want to install retropi on it and its that same if not cheaper then building it my and i like where all the buttons are at.
any suggestions what to do next

Type in the searchbox under comments and use the word linux. Is what I would suggest. I tried it and it dead ended me. I even used the all tab for questions and comments enabled.

Welcome to LinuxQuestions.

Probably not.

Without knowing anything about what inside like CPU etc there is little we can determine. Since it does not appear to be a best selling game it probably did not bring much attention to anyone willing to hack (in the good way) the device.

It would be easier in time and effort if a Raspberry Pi would fit inside the case and you could possibly be able to get the switches working. RetroPi is a linux version specifically for the Raspberry Pi and will not necessarily work with other SBC's
