error while compiling linux kernel source for android

I have downloaded the Linux Kernel Source and trying to build Linux kernel for android emulator. Now I get error while compiling the Linux Kernel Source, here I use cross-compiling tool-chain that is downloaded with android source.

When I try this:

ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE=~/mydroid/prebuilt/linux-x86/toolchain/arm-eabi-4.4.0/bin/arm-eabi- make

I get the following error:

root@ubuntu:~# ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE=~/mydroid/prebuilt/linux-x86/toolchain/arm-eabi-4.4.0/bin/arm-eabi- make
make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop.
root@ubuntu:~#

i am following the instructions from http://linuxclues.blogspot.com/2010/...l-android.html

so, What is the error, or do I have to execute this in some other directory?

Please help. Thank you!

Why is this marked "[SOLVED]"? -- Your last post sounds like you are still looking for an answer.

I changed the directory to "common", that is, from root@ubuntu:~# to root@ubuntu:~/common# and the compilation started.
now there is problem with some files when i "make". most of the things are done, the last error is

root@ubuntu:~/common# make
CHK include/linux/version.h
CHK include/linux/utsrelease.h
SYMLINK include/asm -> include/asm-x86
CALL scripts/checksyscalls.sh
CHK include/linux/compile.h
CC drivers/rtc/alarm.o
drivers/rtc/alarm.c:16: fatal error: asm/mach/time.h: No such file or directory
compilation terminated.
make[2]: *** [drivers/rtc/alarm.o] Error 1
make[1]: *** [drivers/rtc] Error 2
make: *** [drivers] Error 2
root@ubuntu:~/common#

and i am still finding, how to resolve this...

anyways, thankyou very much...!!!
