There's no need to apologise, Jayanthan. I'm running out of ideas anyway to be honest. :-) It needs someone who knows the intricacies of dpkg and, more likely, of fontconfig (because manual editing of config files may well be necessary since dpkg is a bit handicapped at the moment). I'm not that person and I'm sorry that I couldn't personally solve your problem. However, hopefully someone else can.
If I think of anything else then I'll let you know. In the meantime, Google the error messages that you received about fontconfig - you can't be the first to have encountered this problem and hopefully someone out there will have a solution.
