Unhappy Unable to shutdown computer running Linuxmint 10 rc

Hello

I loaded Mint10RC on one of my computers, the day it came out and it seems to be working fine except for one small glitch. About two days ago, I found myself unable to shutdown the the box, either from the Shutdown menu item or in console using "sudo shutdown -h now". The box just keeps rebooting itself. This only started a few days ago so I am suspicious it might have been one of the updates which affected it.

Has anyone else experienced this ?

Just curious, what happens if you use:

Code:
sudo telinit 0
Regards,

Unable to shutdown computer running Linuxmint 10rc

Hello Fordeck

Thanks for your response. I tried that "sudo telinit 0" and it made no difference, the msg said the system was halted and then it just restarted.
Its a really old computer, perhaps something got shot during on e of the recent blackouts here in Toronto.

Thanks for your suggestion anyway

Hmmn, progress

I went into the computer's BIOS setup, checked all the items and re-saved them. The computer appears to be shutting down properly now. One of the settings might have been askew as a result of the brownouts/blackouts we have been having lately in Toronto.
