trying to decrypt file

I created a key on 1/09/2017 with pgp2 but cannot decrypt
-what should I do next?

ammas@ammas-Aspire-F5-571 ~/Desktop $ gpg2 --output mtogo.zip --decrypt mtogo.zip.gpg
gpg: CAST5 encrypted data
gpg: encrypted with 1 passphrase
gpg: DBG: cleared passphrase cached with ID: S8E43B9269CCD3E30
gpg: decryption failed: Bad session key

strange thing is when I run top I can see gpg rumuinng at 84%per cent of cpu for about 2.30 miuntes

ammas@ammas-Aspire-F5-571 ~/Desktop $ gpg --output mtogo.zip --decrypt mtogo.zip.gpg
gpg: CAST5 encrypted data
gpg: encrypted with 1 passphrase
gpg: decryption failed: bad key

when I encrypted this file the Armour(ASCII - ARMORED TEXT WAS CHECKED

Did you enter the decryption password you created when encrypting the file?

https://www.techrepublic.com/article...inux-with-gpg/

-::-Ensure that your version of gpg is up to date. An older version can throw errors like gpg: decryption failed: Bad session key-::-

thanks for your reply

the version of gnupg is 1.4.16

the version of gnupg2 is 2.0.22

I created the key the with gnupg2

The software I used to encrypt the file was Gnupg Shell v1.0

My brother has a xp box and I loaded pgp Desktop 9 and tried to decrypt and it gave the message wrong password but not sure how reliable that software is?

You're Welcome.

I'm sorry xstation I haven't used a Windows machine in 6 years.

Look in the Windows 7 or Windows 10 Forums to find out if that software is reliable or not.

https://www.sevenforums.com/

I personally don't trust any thing that is associated with Windows or Microsoft.
