(Solved) Linux Mint 8 will not boot

After install Linux Mint 8 will not boot. I looked for grub and could not find it. If I install Linux Mint 7 every thing works fine. Is there a problem with 8.

As I understand it they are using Grub2 and that seems to the issue. I have not found a grub config.

I tried everything on your post but it still won't boot. Linux Mint is loaded on a extended partition. /dev/sdb9. The message I get is Insert system disk and press any key. I'm not getting any response from Linux Mint forums at all. When I load Linux Mint 7 there are no problems. Do you know what they changed???

"they" didn't change anything - Ubuntu did.

As it is based on Karmic Koala - then yes - it does indeed use Grub2.

However, if Mint8 is giving you grief, then go back to Mint7,
especially if it did work for you.

Solved

It seems that any distro that's using Ubuntu 9.10 has to be on a primary partition. It can not be on an extended partition.
