Samba Share Permissions
Hi Guys, my apologies if this kind of questions have been asked before I am considerably new to Linux Mint (Linux Mint 13 to be precise) and I have the following three Samba Shares [Projects],[Personal_Folders],[Library] with the samba config file info listed for each below as well. These samba shares are shared by windows based PCs (i.e. they are mapped as network drives on individual windows based PCs).
I have to modify the permissions of the [Projects] samba share so that TomP-PC can only create a folder and files i.e. read and write but KevinB ONLY write but cannot DELETE and MOVE Files and Folders in [Projects] samba share. Please advise.
[Projects]
path = /media/P-drive/Projects
writeable = yes
; browseable = yes
inherit owner = yes
force create mode = 2775
force directory mode = 2775
valid users = TomP-PC, KevinB
I have to modify the permissions of the [Personal_Folders] samba share so that TomP-PC can only read and write to his personal folder named "Tom" inside [Personal_Folders] samba share and should not have access to any other folder within [Personal_Folders] samba share and same goes for KevinB. Please advise.
[Personal_Folders]
path = /media/U-drive/Personal_Folders
; browseable = yes
writeable = yes
inherit owner = yes
force create mode = 2775
force directory mode = 2775
valid users = TomP-PC, KevinB
I have to modify the permissions of the [Library] samba share so that ONLY Jamie-PC has read and write access while TomP-PC and Kevin can READ and WRITE but cannot DELETE any file or folder within [Library] samba share. Please advise.
[Library]
path = /media/R-drive/Library
write list = KevinB, JamieZ, JaniceB-PC, EllaB-PC, administrator,UmairA,
; browseable = yes
force create mode = 2775
force directory mode = 2775
inherit owner = Yes
valid users = Jamie-PC, TomP-PC, KevinB
; writeable = No
Suggestions and responses with detailed steps are very much appreciated.
