No xcf thumbnails in Mint

After recent upgrades, there are no longer any xcf (gimp) thumbnails available, nor is the old gnome-xcf-thumbnailer available in the repos for installation.

Not wishing to dump Mint/Cinnamon, but having been frustrated by the long list of things that no longer work after the last few updates (some of which still don't), I also installed the LMDE (non-Ubuntu version) as a dual boot, and have no xcf thumbnails in that either.

The Linux Mint forums are silent on the matter, so I was wondering if anyone here might know what's going on.

Thanks for any thoughts or ideas ....
