New Mint 8 install

Just downloaded and installed Mint 8 Gnome. Very nice. I have been using Mint since Mint 6 came out.
The only issue is Firefox 3.5 can take up to 25 seconds when I click on a URL before I get the site.
I did some searching and this seems to be happening to other people who do not use Linux.
Any thoughts, ideas about removing Firefox 3.5 and going back to Firefox 3.0 in a Linux OS? Thanks.

Is it actually firefox or the operating system causing the delay though? Have you tried having top up and clicking a url and seeing if firefox is getting pulled up immediately and taking quite a while to load or if the mechanism for transferring the url to firefox is taking an excessive amount of time.

Ubuntu 9.10, PCLinuxOS and Mint 8 with FF 3.5 all do the same thing much of the time. A three are up to date. About a 20 second delay.
Using two different computers.

Mint 7 and Ubuntu 9.04 all use FF 3.0 and do not experience the delay.

Only have Flash Blocker and Add Block Plus for add ons.
