My software manager does not work after upgrading to 19.3


My software manager does not work after upgrading to 19.3 all I get is the generating cache and rotating circle

I tried the terminal and this will not connect either

barry@barry-To-be-filled-by-O-E-M:~$ sudo apt upgrade
E: Type ‘>deb-src’ is not known on line 2 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/tor.list

Any ideas what has happened my internet works OK and I am sending this with Firefox?

I know nothing about Mint, but the error message seems pretty explicit:

i.e. Edit that file and remove the ">" before "deb-src" on line 2.

Says I have no permission to edit as it is read only.

you need to do it as root

just did it with nano in the terminal

just done sudo apt upgrade and sudo apt update

both worked fine

and now the software manager is working fine again
