MPlayer crash using Server Kernel

Hi Folks,

I am just installing Linux Mint 7. It was Fedora 11 before.

My laptop have 4GB of RAM, so it is normal to install Kernel-Server.

But, when playing video using Mplayer, it always crash when right-click.

I am curious so I tried compiling the kernel by my own. And it is always crash just when I set CONFIG_HIGHMEM64=y, using CONFIG_HIGHMEM4=y do not give a crash but the kernel only recognize 3GB of RAM.

Oh yea, my graphics is the little buggy i965GM

Anybody solved this issue?

Many thanks

Some laptops have memory issues where you have to make some adjustments for using larger amounts of RAM. So that people in the forum can help you better, could you tell us about the laptop that you have? Such as what model it is, what type of RAM, and did Mplayer crash on FC11 as well? What version of Mplayer is on Mint 7?

Thanks karlatLQ,

I found that the kernel 2.6.30.5 is to blame, not the Mint itself.

I am re-installing Fedora 11, but the problem appear.

This problem not only affect my i965 on Toshiba M300, but lot more graphic adapter especially on laptop.

I will take a look at 2.6.31...
