Mint 21 to 21.1 upgrade vs clean installation

I have done both. In a clean installation you have all the new features of Cinnamon automatically enabled. In an upgrade you do not see all of them, so what you have to do is go into welcome screen and select modern desktop to have the corner bar show up, and some of the new icons. Once you do that then Cinnamon looks the same across both an upgrade and a clean installation of Mint 21.1.

Other than that, Mint 21.1 is what 21 should have been in the first place.

Then we'd never need point updates.

I'm guessing with limited resources they have to manage the work. No doubt volunteers would be welcome ...

21 just had issues, I lost complete use of USB-C/Thunderbolt on my System 76 Darter Pro, when they worked under 20.3 21 just felt unfinished, 21.1 on the other hand now has that Mint feel back, it is great.

After using the "new" Mint aka 21.1 on multiple machines I have the observation that this is the best release of Mint to date. It is what 21 should have been, and it has plenty to offer both the new and the experienced Linux user. I am very pleased both with the stability and the overall look and feel of the new update. I have put it back on the Galago Pro so I now have 4 Linux laptops.
