LinuxMint toram O.S.

I recently came across a LM that was "toram". However I didn't copy the link. Anyone know what O.S. I'm referring to (link?)? Also, can any LM O.S. be set up "toram"? If so(?) where do I go to get the commands. This has been rather elusive and what I did find was 8 y/o and geared @ ubuntu. I know most of what Ubuntu can run, so can Linux, just haven't found procedure (commands) specific to LM.

THANX

Rick

https://www.google.com/search?client...t+option+toram I assume you mean.

Generally the base distro boot options will work on the spins or variants.

Some distro's call the toram a different name also.

I'm not sure what you are trying to accomplish with 'toram' but that is just a kernel option. The link below discusses it and using it and of course this is Ubuntu. Any 'command' run on Ubuntu 'should; be identical on Mint.

RE: yancek

What I'm trying to accomplish with "toram" is just what it infers. Boot-to-RAM! I believe this would be the appropriate method of running an LM O.S. from a pendrive. Ever since LM 17.2-3, I've had problems getting an LM distro to operate properly from a pendrive. Don't know the reasons why, but since 17.3 nothing has been stable. Thought I had a stable O.S once w/ 18.2, but it began to get squirrely after a few months. 'Toram", I believe, would eliminate the excessive read/write cycle of the pendrive plus, the O.S. would operate much more efficiently, quickly and operate much more stable in RAM. That is my thoughts! TY for the link!!

RE: jefro

Thanx for the link. Yea, it's along the lines of what I'm looking for. Oh, BTW...NEVER assume...do you know what happens when you assume? Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but I get that your saying any LM distro should run from the "toram" configuration(?) If so, then I plan on LM 19.3 XFCE. A few weeks ago I ran across a LM distro(ready for D/l and/or install) that was already set up that way. But, DOHHHH...I didn't copy the url and now I can't find it.

THANKS ALL

Rick

You were told about toram in 2018, and have been pointed to the Linux Mint thread in several of your other posts about this over the years. The link, again, from another of your posts on this very site:
https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=275337

...which mentions both casper and toram. Again. You could also check the many, MANY other threads you've started about this exact issue, which is still wanting to run a full install of Linux from a thumbdrive, with zero lag/issues. Which you've been told many times **WILL NOT** work the way you want it to. And you've also said many times that you resolved all your problems, yet keep posting back with the same question, going back to at least 2015:

https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...ng-4175628340/ <---- toram mentioned here
https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...ce-4175631129/ <---- **From 2018, which links to instructions via toram
https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...ux-4175655332/ <---- **From 2019
https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...ce-4175669133/

I think that this post is probably the most likely solution:

And if you'd like to see the numerous links on the Linux Mint forums, here you go:
