Red face Linuxmint 17 Installation - PAE enabled cpu

Hello

I installed Linuxmint 17 a few days ago, and having gotten past a few glitches, I am really enjoying it. One small mystery - my computer has a PAE enabled cpu and I guess I expected the installation to install a PAE enabled kernel. uname - r says generic instead of PAE. When I run the free command, it shows my full 4 gigs of ram which implies that my installation is PAE compliant even with a generic kernel.
Not sure what I am missing here, but any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks

Clive

Mint is base on Ubuntu which compiles PAE support into the kernel by default since 12.10 (had to go look up the version...)

Thanks MichaelK

So I guess I did not have to see PAE when I did a uname -a.

Thank you
