Linux Mint 19 Cinnamon Tara 64-bit hangs up on shut down and on restart. Is there a resolution to this issue?

I'll bet it doesn't report "I'm hanging up!"

Tell us exactly what it does say, or report in logs.

Have you tried booting Mint off a live media and seeing if that shuts down correctly?

I had a system crash and reloaded LM 19. I optimized the OS using Easy Linux Tips. I no longer have this issues.

Mark this solved then.

Sometimes, if you leave too long between updates & upgrades, something can get a bit off. It's usually fixed by simple commands like 'apt-get --fix-broken.' I personally have never had this problem with Mint-19.0, although I had it with Debian or Ubuntu in VMs here.

Thanks Bus Kid. I need to learn more about command line code obviously. It is a bit confusing to me because I am more or less just a user not a programmer. But I would like to make sense of it for the future. Also, I don't even know how to search my logs for problems. This is all a new learning experience for me.

But thanks so much for the solutions and I hope to refer to them in the near future. You have been very helpful.

FYI, you can use

Code:

journalctl -b

to view the systemd logs in reverse order: I think top down, not on my machine right now so can't check.
