Have you tries right clicking on the .exe file and then clicking on Open with WINE or whatever comes up in the actions window? That is what got things working for me. Now I only have to click them.
You could also try ReactOS, which you may have better luck with than Wine. It does use some of the Wine API, but also adds other libraries that make it more suitable for Windows applications.
Failing all else, if your computer has the resources to spare for it, install VirtualBox and install a real Windows OS in a virtual machine.
Note that like Wine, you won't get the same performance as if it was running Windows on the computer directly.
