3D printing - repetier host

Hi, a couple of days a week I do a bit of volunteer work refurbishing unwanted PCs for those who can't afford them. This normally means dropping Windows 7 onto the computers but this week we had to prepare a few with Mint for 3D printing. The application to be used is "Repetier Host"

https://www.repetier.com/

The Microsceptics at work decided the customer had got it all wrong and were only going for this option as it was free. Does anyone have any experience using Linux Mint for 3 printing? How about "Repetier Host", any experiences? I am curious

Cheers
