I agree with yooy, it would be easier to help if you could provide a link. Also, have you checked whether the videos play in another browser and/or on another OS?

Oddly I can't now play it in Firefox on my netbook but it works fine in Chromium and in Firefox on my PC. That makes me think that for me it's a NoScript or AdBlock config issue.

Do you have another example of a video that doesn't work? The example posted has moved now.
Also, do you have Adobe Flash installed and working for other sites? Do you have any plug-ins to block scripts, adverts or other content? Have you tried in other browsers like Chromium, Google Chrome (which has its own Flash plug-in of a higher version than available to other browsers) or Opera?
Flash works on youtube - Also the commercials preceding the video play
It works on Windows8 and firefox on the same computer
I tried chrome in ubuntu IT WORKS
I Tried help - Restart with Add-ons Disabled
I tried reseting firefox which removes most plugins
I Checked /etc/hosts file to see if it was blocking sites

I'm stumped . It plays fine on my desktop under Firefox and I even get to skip the adverts. It works fine with Chrommium on my netbook but not in Firefox despite them sharing the Flash plugin.
