What system handles ACPi best out of the box?

Hi, I have that Dell Inspiron 1100 wich is kind of a pain with Linux and acpi.

Linspire, which I pretty much hate, is the only Linux that I have been able to get sleep modes beyond s1 working in. And I'm not sure that it was even actually acpi.

I've fooled around compliling later Kernals and insirting dst tables and have had no luck yet.

I'm just wondering if anybody has had any luck with ACPI in any particular distro without a lot of headaches.
