Angry Using Touchpad + USB WLAN means touchpad and keyboard stops responding randomly

After weeks of trying I got my wireless LAN adapter to work (Linksys WUSB11) on SuSE 8.2 only to find that trying to use the Synaptics touchpad when the adapter is plugged in causes the touchpad AND keyboard to stop responding randomly.

Sometimes it only stops responding for a short while, sometimes i'll be waiting awhile (1 min or so). As you can imagine its extremely fustrating... I'd be grateful for any solutions that you have...
