Can't remember where I got the driver from. It's the generic bcmwl5 driver and using ti with ndiswrapper. I had to download ndiswrapper and build it myself (simple to do). Only problem is that it has to be rebuild and reinstalled with each update of the kernel as I could not find a prebuilt package for it.
whenever i do
make
make install
in the ndiswrapper folder it gives me the error
"Can't find kernel source files in /usr/bin/kernels/;
give the path to kernel sources directory with
KSRC=<path> argument to make"
the wireless is the only thing that i haven't got working on this laptop, its like i'm so close yet so far

I have the same mx. If running 64bit and the driver is correctly installed (check by running sudo ndiswrapper -l) the wireless light should be on. If x86 then the light will reflect network traffic.
ok in the network configuration it shows my eth0 and says ok for status, it also shows my wireless as wlan0 and says configured for status, my wireless light isn't on and when i try "ifconfig wlan0 up" it says "wlan0: unknown interface: No such device". Also under devices it shows it as well as being inactive, when i click activate on it it says "ndiswrapper device wlan0 does not seem to be present, delaying initialization.", again my wireless light is not on, but when i do ndiswrapper -l it says driver installed hardware present. What do i do now?

If you type iwconfig at the command line, what is the output?
I at first had problems with some confusion between the eth and wlan which required me to edit /etc/iftab. ALso what is the output of that file when you cat it?
add mandriva 2006 to the list of distros that support this laptop. The sound didn't work at 1st, but you just open kmix and turn off the external amp and it works. Its has a nice gui for ndiswrapper and the drivers can be found on gateways website or broadcoms website. i'm using the 32 bit version so i could get both java and flash working. It also supports mp3s "out of the box" unlike fedora. Few problems though if anybody could help i'd appreciate it. The typing is acting like it does with a live cd. Sometimes if u just push a key once it types it like 7 times. The wireless turns on my wireless light, its shows the different netwworks, but all the signals only have one bar. It will connect to unsecured networks, and even mine after typing in the network key, but its like the connection isn't even there, neither firefox nor limewire connects (wired wworks). I was also wondering if anybody knew how to set up the openGL for this laptop. I would like to plaay chromium.
Getting broadcom wireless to work on Fedora Core 6 on MX7515
Hi,
Has anybody had any success getting the wireless to work on this machine with FC6? I installed the ndiswrapper and followed all the steps but I still see broadcom in lspci. Any help is greatly appreciated, and my apologies if this has already been resolved. I've wasted the whole long weekend on this pos.
lspci | grep -i broadcom
