trouble burning on ibm thinkpad t23 (debian)

I can't seem to mount my cdrom volume whenever I put in a blank cd image. Linux gives me the following error:

Quote:
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/hdc,
missing codepage or other error
(could this be the IDE device where you in fact use
ide-scsi so that sr0 or sda or so is needed?)
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so
What do I have to configure to get this working...by the way, the device is:

Quote:
UJDA720 DVD/CDRW
Any help is greatly appreciated

What is a blank CD image? You can not mount a blank CD.
What Debian / kernel version are you running?

I'm using Sarge, Kernel 2.4.

If I can't mount a blank CD...the how exactly do I burn..? (I know this sounds stupid)

You can not mount a blank CD because it does not contain a valid filesystem. The CD burning application actually accesses the device. You can not drag and drop like windows XP. The actual CD writing application is a CLI program called cdrecord. There are many frontend GUI applications that use cdrecord but k3b is probably becoming the one of choice.
