Question Toshiba F50 FX QuadCore Cell and Gesture Control

http://www.toshiba.co.jp/about/press/2008_06/pr2301.htm

Toshiba had announced new F50 FX / G50 FX product with
* Quadcore Cell / Broadband engine co-processor.
* Intel Core 2 Duo
* Gesture / hand / fist control based on webcam.

Is it possible to use all features of this product with Linux?

Can the user use 2 different Linux?
(One for x86 and the other for Cell CPU?)

Is there any gesture/hand/fist/webcam control software on Linux?
Is this software compatible with the new Toshiba products?

Thank you.

On ordinary desktop computers, User can add Mercury PCI Express card with Cell Co-processor (price US$ 8000).
The Co-processor use Yellow Dog Linux from Terrasoft.

http://www.terrasoftsolutions.com/products/mercury/

The world most powerful Supercomputer from IBM also use similar Hybrid architecture with AMD CPU combined with Cell Co-processors.

The development center of Linux for Cell CPU is located at Barcelona Super Computer Center in Spain.

I hope this Yellow Dog Linux will support Toshiba F50 FX and G50 FX.

I hope I can use Fedora on the Intel Core 2 Duo and at the same time use Yellow Dog Linux on Cell CPU.

There is a Linux kernel compiled into LLVM / LLVA. In theory with LLVM, it is possible to run the same kernel on 2 different types of CPU on the same machine.

The Cell processor is a co-processor i.e. helps
the main processor with certain tasks, and cannot
be used as a stand alone processor, AFAIK
Quote:
.....Cell...the SpursEngine™ integrates four synergistic
processing elements (S.P.E.s)*3 and functions as a dedicated
co-processor*4 that supports the smooth handling of high
definition video streams, image recognition and image processing

Nope.
The Cell is a Power chip (which does all the heavy lifting) and co-processors that are offload engines for parallel processing. They aren't capable of having tasks dispatched on them, but can execute instructions. Interesting, huh ...
When I can figure out a way of using all that, I'll buy a PS3 and run Linux on it. Much cheaper option than the Toshi.
