Hello everyone, after a long time of reading and visiting the site I decided to register and ask for some help for a problem I have and I really can't find a solution, I hope you can understand me, my English is still not very good!
On my desktop pc I currently have Slackware64 and everything works perfectly, I've weighed, I'm a bit old, for many distro from the "easy" to the "hard" as a fan
Some time ago I was able to acquire my second thinkpad, model L15 gen2 amd... I saw that they were "certified" by fedora and ubuntu... so I used fedora since version 36 and never had problems, I noticed an excess of temperature but I thought it was nothing serious, a few days ago I switched to fedora38 and nothing good happened, in Windows I have a temperature of 37/42° without work while in fedora is at 55°, when I surf the internet in windows does not exceed 45/55° while fedora minimum 65°, I decided to change and try other distros and to my surprise everything is still the same, try slackware, arch, and to my surprise everything is still the same, I tried with powertop tlp, but I can not lower the consumption of the devices and less the temperature, currently I have a few tabs of edge and I only have 45 ° while in linux with 2 or 3 tabs of firefox I am 65 ° of course, this would be so annoying because my keyboard gets hot and cooler does not stop blowing hot air. . so here i need a hand..i read a lot of articles about linux and its high temperature but i didn't find the solution! thanks for taking the time to read and give a little bit more help!!!!
What you describe sound like the paste has dried out on the CPU, or the system has aquired way too much dust blocking the vents.
To fix this type of problem, some disassembly is necessary. If you do not feel comfortable doing that, take it to a shop that has experience with this type of problem. The paste is cheap, it the labor that isn't so cheap.
You can find documentation on the IBM/Levono web site for most models. They will tell you how to remove various parts of the system.
It is unlikley software will have much affect on this type of problem.

AMD and Linux don't offer the same level of compatibility as with Intel. However, what you could do is try out Kernel 6.4 RC3 & TLP 1.6 alpha. The support for Zen2 - Zen4 is better.
