I think only one step to go. Output device file is missing (or not configured correct.) Reporting as a bug is another way to solve. I will check these devece files on my penguin and see
After almost two months with no sound I'm finally a proud owner of a Linux tablet with fully working sound!
Here's in brief how I managed to make it work:
-After a few installations and more re-installations of various distros and much more compilations and installations of alsa drivers I decided to give a chance to the new born OpenSuse 10.2 RC1.
-Installed with no problems but sound didn't work.No errors,no messages just silence.
That was a good sign(!).
-In the meanwhile I had filed a bug report at alsa bugtrack but i had no answer as there are too many reports for the people in alsa to manage in a proper time.
-Digging in alsa bugtrack for similar problems with Intel cards and HDA Intel Codec
noticed that a common suggestion was to try production version of driver (hg).
Decided to have a go.
-Downloaded and installed mercurial package.
-Got alsa-driver and alsa-kernel sources from Mercurial SCM repository.
-Compiled and Installed and ...
-Amazing test sound came out of my tablet's tiny speakers!
-Run AlsaConf,AlsaMixer with no problems.
-Rebooted still working.
-Updated to 10.2 Final. Everything is still working Ok.
I have to mention than Wireless Intel 3945/ABG,Screen digitizer(stylus),Screen rotation on screen keyboard, card reader all worked Out of the Box.
The only thing left is to have Beryl work(at this point when I run it I have a bright completely white rotating cube).
At this point I would like to thank everybody in this thread who tried to help me with my problem (Thanks Kaz for the patience).
