Hey....
I made a software wattmeter in python for laptops using the acpi output in /proc/acpi/battery/BAT1/state. Could you guys download it and try it out on your laptop using the directions contained in the included README?
wattmeter.tar.gz (1.12 Kb)
Post the results of your computer at lowest idle(i.e. no load and dim screen) as well as atfull blown power(using gimp lighting effects for instance), indicating your computers specs..
I made it in Ubuntu Edgy Eft, so I can garuntee it'll work there. If it doesn't work with your laptop/distrobution... then tell me that too and I'll see if I can fix it..
now we'll finally be able to see whether Intel's are better than AMDs at Linux support.
for my computer(an Acer 5050):
AMD Turion X2 TL-50 1.6Ghz
ATI Xpress1100
14.1" crystal bright screen
5400RPM WD 120GB hard drive
idle: 15.5678 watts
full: 45 watts
Thanks...
