Unhappy Problems shutting down RH 9 on an HP Pavilion ze5400

So I suppose I've got it better than most...my RH 9 boots fine and for the most part works OK (some wireless trouble left, but hey, what can you do). However, during shutdown my system hangs while shutting down PCMCIA support. The exact line that the shutdown hangs on is "stopping pcmcia: unloading Kernel Card Services". Looking at /var/log/messages doesn't tell (me) anything useful; someone with more experience might have better luck. I have not yet installed any external pcmcia drivers on this system, which will be my next course of action unless someone tells me something different. Thanks boys and girls!

ZE5400

I had the same problem with RH9.0. Try getting the 2.6 kernel. It works very well.

2.6 kernel didn't take care of this problem for me. (HP ze4145) so i gave up redhat and swtiched to SuSE. works great now... no more pcmcia problems.

(you're right though... you have it better than some. if i ever forgot and left my ethernet plugged in while the laptop was booting, it would go into kernel panic when it tried to load the pcmcia driver. i always had to boot all the way in, then activate the ethernet nic later)

pcmcia

I've had no troubles with pcmcia and 2.6.3 and the Yenti Cardbus driver with redhat 9.
