Angry Kodachi xubuntu to windows 10 setup USB isnt enough memory available to create a ramdisk device error

I have been using kodachi linux for a while and hated it and I just haven't gotten the chance to switch back to windows 10. To do this I decided to use the kodachi nuke to delete everything then after that i of course cant boot up the os all I can get to is a grub menu and the kodachi command line just about nothing else works so I tried booting up my computer with a usb that has windows on it using the windows download tool and a usb and the computer keeps showing this (http://imgur.com/a/ZSsGujj) and doesnt let me get past it I also tried formatting the drives using dban and the auto nuke feature within it and I still get the same problem and can still boot into kodachi startup but of course not the kodachi desktop please help

Welcome (however briefly) to LQ. That's funny. You installed linux, hated it, deleted it, but can't install over?

Can you boot a windows dvd? ANY install dvd? Otherwise, we'll have to see if you left anything. Exactly what happens in Grub?
Can you get a mate to burn a windows dvd for you?

I'm not sure if I'm reading your post correctly but, you seem to be saying you had 'only' Kodachi installed and now want only windows and you used some software to delete the Kodachi partitions(s). Obviously, it won't boot now as it isn't there. Was this install of Kodachi an EFI or Legacy install? The image you posted is pretty common anytime a significant change is made. So use the installation DVD as suggested (if you have it). And based on the last line in that message, how much RAM do you have?

You've made life awkward for yourself by removing your linux OS, without having a windows OS. How exactly were you planning to install a system you haven't got? Now that you've removed linux, what dvds or usb keys have you got that will boot your computer. Have you shot yourself in the foot here (We've probably all done it) or were you intending to install some other way?

MrEdge,

On a functioning computer, download the W10 ISO from MS:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/soft...d/windows10ISO

Then use Etcher or Rufus to put it on a USB drive.

On your own computer, set BIOS/UEFI to UEFI, not CSM/Legacy.

Also arrange the Boot Order so that USB HDD is ahead of HDD.

1. Turn off the PC, and put in the W10 installation drive.
2. Boot the PC from the USB drive in UEFI mode.
3. From inside Windows Setup, press Shift+F10 to open a command prompt window. https://winaero.com/blog/open-comman...ot-windows-10/

4. Open the diskpart tool:
Code:
diskpart
Identify the drive to reformat:
Code:
list disk
Select the drive, and reformat it:
Code:
select disk 0
      clean
      convert gpt
      exit
Close the command prompt window.

Continue the Windows Setup installation.

When choosing an installation type, select Custom. The drive will appear as a single area of unallocated space.

Select the unallocated space and click Next.
Windows begins the installation.

Have your W10 product key ready. Keys are generally available from ebay with instant download. This is perfectly legal within the EU. Your area may have different legislation.

If your computer had W10 installed from new, Windows activation should be automatic.

That's fine. Feeling stupid is often the result of solving problems, but you solved it.

Mark the thread 'solved' so folks can find it. And join thye rest of us who've felt stupid. We've all shot ourselves in the foot sometime (or many times).
