Keyboard & Display "VGA"

Hello,

Finally, there is a mobile people area!!!

I have been having this problem with my keyboard, it is a Swiss_CH keyboard but i can enable it with "regional settings which Gnome provides", Working with 32MB of RAM means this takes a really long time to fix and once i power down the system loses all its settings as regards XKB and i have to do it again and again which effectively puts me off.

I try to use the xf86config but since the video settings and sync ranges are for "CRT`s" the screen really gets whacked up I mean the XScreen is really messed up both for KDE and
GNOME.

There seem to be no options for Laptops in xf86config? How can i solve this problem while in a tty; i mean without going into the Xenviroment yet?

I have tried to copy the keymap that the tty uses into that of the usr/ for X but this does nothing.

I have also tried the command setxkbmap it tells me it cannot execute...

i used to have the same problem with my spanish keyboard. in the end i edited /etc/X11/XF86config manually and found that the file was all scrambled up by several runs of xf86config. check it out and try cleaning it a bit, see if it works
