Improving power consumption on my KDE (opensuse 12.2)
Dear all,
I have noticed that on my laptop (ACER Aspire 7736) the battery lasts less in my opensuse 12.2 compared to the windows.
I am using kde as an environment and probably this might be needing more cpu power. Could you please give me your hints on what I can do/check for improving
the power consumption?
One more think that I am also thinking is that the drivers for my G210m graphics card are not so good to support power saving modes of operation.
Disable the desktop effects, disable file indexing, use Yast to install the proprietary video drivers, have a look at the power-saving options, especially CPU frequency scaling.
Distribution: K/Ubuntu 18.04-14.04, Scientific Linux 6.3-6.4, Android-x86, Pretty much all distros at one point...

There's an applet called jupiter that is very good with power management, helping make adjustments on the fly, according to your preferences. The only problem is that it runs on Mono (for if you have an objection to that)...
Mono is a free implementation of the.Net framework. Some people have political issues to use it, because they think that it may be sometime in the future used by Microsoft to stranglehold Linux.
