I'm using the PS/2 driver. Try to boot from knoppix (I'm using v. 3.6, but earlier version probably works the same) - at first the touchpad doesn't work: for some reason knoppix thinks this machine has a USB mouse. However if you boot into runlevel 2 (use cheatcode knoppix 2) and edit the knoppix XF86Config-4 (at the very top of the file) to change the mouse from USB to PS/2, then restart X, you now have a working touchpad.

Note that to get knoppix to boot at all, you need the noapic cheatcode also.

Lars.

Hello, I am thinking about getting the HP Pavilion zv5370us (available at Compusa for $1199 after rebates) which is similar to this one I think. Apart from all these problems you encountered, how is the machine performing? Is it getting hot as the AMD is known for? All experiences with this laptop is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

It runs great for me, except for the obvious issues. You will NOT be able to run the wireless device in 64-bit mode still. Otherwise, I also ran into a problem where outputting to the VGA port (for projector presentations) means you have to switch to a 4:3 mode, because a widescreen mode will be munged on the projector and the output is hardware wired and not software controllable to my knowledge...
