How often do you 're-calibrate' your laptop battery ??

I bought a laptop - fuijitsu siemens 1020 back in 2003.
At fiest, the battery used to be able to run for over 1 hour before needing re-charging - but i mostly always ran it off AC power.
Now though - theres something up with the battery - i cant seem to re-charge it! I thought that the NI-MH 8 cell battery had expired cause of time. I could not re-calibrate it cause it said 'fully charged nothing to be done'. Today however, the bios re-calibration started as it should have:

at around 1pm Empty - full
at arond 5pm Full to Empty (now at 70%)

theres still one step to go, Emty to full. I was just wondering if this would fix the battery problem. Its the first time in 6 years i have done this.

Even if it does not work, i maintain - from gut instinct - that the components that are put into laptops these days are inferior to the ones they used back then!! My laptop cost a heck of a lot of cash 6 years ago and even if the battery is zapped for good - i think that its given me a good run for my money. This process should probably finish by 8pm tonight - do you think this will fix the problems i have been having with my battery or not???

If you are referring to the Lifebook C-Series, I have the exact same model.

I perform a battery calibration roughly every six months from the last calibration (as per the manufacturers instructions) and I still get over 1 hours usage

I don't know if it will fix your problem as calibration is meant to be used (at regular intervals) as the 'Learning Cycle' to optimise use of the battery.
