How do I Disable Firewire from loading in Suse 9.1 Pro.

Previously when I ran Suse 9.0 I disabled my firewire in the YAST /etc/sysconfig editor. (My firewire card in my Toshiba 5205-S705 laptop was causing a conflict with my sound card) Well after I found that both were trying to use IRQ 10 I just disabled it in YAST and my sound started working.

Well now I have installed Suse 9.1 pro and guess what. I can not find anywhere to disable my firewire card in YAST /etc/sysconfig editor. The option I previously had in 9.0 is no longer in 9.1 The format has changed a little as well in the /etc/sysconfig as well. It may be listed another way but I cant find it. I have did searchs for ieee1394 and ohci1394 within the editor but nothing came up that I could disable it from loading. So any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Lee

ieee1394 and ohci1394 sound like drivers to me. How about trying to take a look at /etc/modules

That is what I searched for with no results. I did not see anything in /etc/modules.conf
Any other ideas? Thanks for your help.

Could you not just disable the Card in the BIOS?

No, my laptop uses ACPI.

I dont have an option specifically for firewire, ieee1394 or ohci1394. I did not think of the runlevel editor, so I did learn something new. It just didnt fix my problem.

Any other ideas. Thanks guys.

Got it. I added it to the hotplug black list and walla, no more ohci1934 errors.
