How can I find out who manufactured linare's laptop?
I have one of the few laptops Linare made. It is very nice, but the keyboard got tea splashed on it, now the control key is stuck. Without a manufacturers name I can't find a replacement.
I have tried searching, using the via mainboard number, with no results. Two options come to mind. 1. take the keyboard out, and clean it with alcohol, water or contact cleaner, dry it put it back see what happens.(don't like that one). 2. It looks like a solo 5300 Gateway keyboard, try swapping it if the cable looks the same. any feedback or other options gratefully appreciated. Dan
Taking the keyboard out and washing with water works (I've done it). The problem is the sugar; when it dries, it acts like glue. I've taken the keyboard to the shower and sprayed warm water on it until the stuck keys are released. Then shake out any excess water, and place the keyboard on a towel to dry, with a fan pointing at it. After 24 hours, re-install.
If you want to replace the keyboard, take it out and check for part numbers or other identifying information (there's always some). Google search on the numbers will usually find someone that has the part. Alternatively, check EBay for a dead same model laptop that you can use for parts.
Thanks for the reply.
I gave it a shower. waiting for it to dry.
I did google the pn:KB636EA0001 8C no results, (forgot to mention before)
I will let you know what happens.
