"help me" cant load ubuntu 6.06


i gota used ibm t21 thinkpad windows xp does not work. wanted to take it out. replace with ubuntu 6.06.will it take it out when it loads? it freezes up and says uncompressing linux...ok,booting the kernel.

Linux on Laptops
IBM Thinkpad T21 [Ubuntu linux 5.10 breezy]

NOTE: When I try that 2'nd link my proxy says no! Spyware, malware ahead. That usually indicates a file serving site though. Probably it's OK just don't use IE to access it and turn off scripting before you go there.
