I'm sorry, but I can't make heads or tails of this post. What exactly are you asking here?
It seems like your having a file I/O error on /dev/sda, but there isn't much else we can tell. Do the kernel logs show anything of use when you get this error?
Thank You. Ironically. The particular issue has been resolved. Not to say that others do not lay a head now. At the prompt that reads: Error fsyncing/closing/dev/sda: Input/Output, when asked to retry, if one continues to press retry, eventually the operating system kicks in. Pardon the terminology, sir, my English is not all that great.
