Dell Inspiron 2600 problem

I was trying to install Fedora Core 4 in my Dell laptop and the installation program Anaconda sent me the following message:

"X11TranSocket INETConnect() can't get address for localhost:6001 name or service not known

(mini-wm:578): Gtk-WARNING cannot open display: :1"

and the installation could not go on. What should I do?

Thanks

What kind of hardware does your laptop have?

i.e. Video card, amount of ram, speed of processor, etc.

Thumbs down

It sounds Fedora isnt compatiable with one peice or another of your hardware. I tried Fedora Core 4 my first time with linux and i had alot of trouble out of it too. Try another distro, you might not get any errors with say Slack or Ubuntu. Goodluck.

Sorry i can't help more, i'm not that inclined toward linux yet myself, but that did work for me.
